During the first full month of spring, there are plenty of opportunities to savor the best Seattle has to offer, including wine and beer tastings, food festivals, cooking classes, pop-up dinners, and special restaurant offerings. We've compiled this list of April events that you should buy tickets or make reservations for now, before they fill up, ranging from the Bacon and Beer Classic to the Global Specialty Coffee Expo, from the Green Lake Food Walk to a rice and walking tour of the Chinatown-International District, and from Science Uncorked to a tequila cocktail making class. APRIL 2-13

1. Seattle Restaurant Week
Seattle Restaurant Week is a twice-yearly event that is actually two half-weeks (Sunday through Thursday, from April 2–13) during which 165-plus restaurants around Seattle—and Bellevue, Kirkland, Edmonds, Woodinville, Issaquah, Redmond, Tukwila, and Snoqualmie—offer set-menu, three-course dinners for $32. Many restaurants also offer three-course lunches for $18. How much do you save? It depends entirely on the restaurant, but Restaurant Week is a great chance to try restaurants that might normally be outside of your price range.

APRIL 4

2. Preserving Spring
Learn how to safely preserve the bounty your backyard will provide this spring at this class highlighting techniques for pickling, jam-making, and water bath canning. You'll also get to make and eat a delicious meal featuring pickled asparagus on ricotta toast, homemade harissa with roasted spring veggies and yogurt, and rice pudding with bay-vanilla rhubarb jam—and you'll get to take a jar or two home.

APRIL 4 & 7

3. Chef Aaron Tekulve's Restaurant Pop-Up
Aaron Tekulve has worked at restaurants including Lark, Canlis, and Cafe Juanita, and plans to open his own restaurant, Surrell, in spring 2018. To get a preview of the PNW-focused menus he'll create there, head to this six-course pop-up dinner featuring an optional wine pairing from Matthews Winery. The tasting menu will include crispy duck egg, asparagus soup, Wagyu beef tartar, black cod, roast lamb, and burnt wood ice cream, all paired with clarets, merlots, and sauvignons blancs.

APRIL 5

4. Yakima Valley AVA Dinner
Celebrate the beginning of spring at this fourth pairing dinner in the AVA Dinner Series, which looks at specific American Viticultural Areas in Washington State. This time, Yakima Valley will be highlighted (Chinook Winery, CĂ´te Bonneville, Owen Roe, and Two Mountain wineries in particular) and you'll learn about the region that's home to almost half of all Chardonnay and Riesling plantings in Washington due to its cooler climate. Dahlia Lounge Chef Brock Johnson will pair the wines with a five-course menu, to include citrus-cured rockfish, fennel-crusted lamb, and rhubarb tart.

APRIL 5-26

5. Pretty Fork Progressive Dinners
The Pretty Fork takes diners on a walking tour of different Seattle neighborhoods, stopping at three different restaurants, each of which serves a different three-course flight of food and an optional wine pairing. The specific locations are all secret, but the neighborhoods are announced: Bellevue on April 5, Tacoma on April 12, Capitol Hill (sold out) on April 19, and Kirkland on April 26.

APRIL 6-27

6. Guest Chef Night
FareStart is a fantastic organization that empowers disadvantaged and homeless men and women by training them for work in the restaurant industry. Every Thursday, they host a Guest Chef Night, featuring a three-course dinner from a notable Seattle chef for just $29.95. In April, Chef Breanna Beike of the Seattle Yacht Club, Chef Shawn Applin of Outlier, Chef Maximillian Petty of Eden Hill, and Chef Jeff Maxfield of SkyCity at the Needle.

APRIL 7

7. Eat Seattle Mixology Class with Dinner
Learn about local distilleries and how to make shrubs and garnishes at this mixology class that also includes a beef bourguignon dinner, dark Indi chocolate for dessert, and two cocktails.

8. Wine Tasting Cruise with Waterbrook Winery
At this 2.5 hour cruise on Lake Union and Lake Washington, learn about Waterbrook Winery, a Walla Walla-based winery that focuses on Bordeaux varieties, Chardonnay and Viognier. The best way to learn about any kind wine is to put it in your mouth, so that's what you'll be doing on this ship while you enjoy a beautiful Seattle spring. There will be food pairings—and if the four tasting wines aren't enough for you, there's plenty more available to purchase.

APRIL 7-8

9. LeMay Wine & Spirits 2017
Tickets to this event include a complimentary wine glass, five drink tokens (good for tastes that will cost between one and three tokens), and the chance to look at pieces from the LeMay Family Collection of classic cars. Plus, chocolate!

APRIL 8

10. Brewshed Luau
At this fundraiser for the nonprofit Washington Wild environmental organization, eat poke or Kalua pork from Big Boys Kainan Foodtruck, drink a pint of beer (included), and watch hula performances with live music. Stuff your belly and learn how to keep Washington green and clean.

11. Brunch Run
Two essential elements of the Seattle diet: fresh air and brunch. Run or walk an easy 5K, then feast on brunch snacks from 15 local restaurants (including Joule, E. Smith Mercantile, Ellenos, Roux, Central District Ice Cream, and more) and drink beer or Bloody Marys in the booze garden. There are also raffles and a "braid bar."

12. Early Life Speech & Language Beer Festival Fundraiser
Taste local beers (seven samples are included in your ticket) and savor a bratwurst lunch at this benefit for Early Life Speech & Language, which provides speech therapy to children at no cost.

13. Eat With Love: Pulutan!
Eat with Love (created by DJ Illogicallogic, activist Donna Denina of Gabriela Seattle, and Kryse Martin-McGill of Nate's Wings & Waffles, Central District Ice Cream, and Melt206) will host this celebration of Filipino cuisine featuring a menu created by Pinay chef Charleen (who you might recognize from her win on the Food Network's Chopped). DJ Illogicalogic will perform while you nosh. Proceeds will go towards Gabriela Seattle: "a grassroots progressive Filipino women's organization fighting for the national liberation of the Philippines."

APRIL 8

14. Anacortes Spring Wine Festival
Taste wine from 30 wineries from Washington's major wine regions and nosh on bites from local restaurants. Unlimited tastes are included in the ticket price, and there will also be smaller chocolate and cheese samples, larger sizes of which you can purchase. Plus, while you're up north, take advantage of the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival.

APRIL 8 & 29

15. Market to Table Tour and Cooking Class
Chef Traci Post will guide you through Pike Place Market, where you'll all pick up ingredients to make a lavish demo meal back in the Atrium Kitchen. See how to cook fresh and seasonal foods.

APRIL 9

16. Cicatielli Pasta Cooking Class
After you learn the step-by-step process of shaping this Southern Italian pasta, as well as how to make a traditional San Marzano and basil tomato sauce, you'll get to indulge in the tasty meal yourself.

17. Hands-on Baking Class: Perfect Pies for a Party
Learn how to make the perfect pies for a party—with flaky crusts and delicious fresh fruit—at this class taught by Standard Bakery owner Josh Grunig. After the class, you'll sit down with a piece of pie and a damn good cup of coffee or tea, and you'll leave with a pie to take home.

18. Paella Cooking Class
Pintxo's paellero and owner Cory Chigbrow and sous chef Emelio Sansone will teach you all the secrets to making two types of the Spanish dish—an almond-based seafood paella and a tomato and garlic-based meat paella. All supplies will be provided, including recipes and a shopping list of their favorite places to get supplies in Seattle, and you'll also get a knife skills tutorial.

APRIL 10

19. The Bite
The Washington State Chefs Association will host this sampling event where you can try bites from local culinary schools, apprentices, and local restaurants while you raise money for Prostart, a high school mentoring and chef training program.

APRIL 13

20. Seattle Kitchen Live
Tom Douglas and Thierry Rautureau are both formidable local restauranteurs and winners of the prestigious James Beard Award—and they're the hosts of the KIRO radio show Seattle Kitchen, which explores our local culinary quirks and trends. At this event, catch a live version of their program. Come early for Tom Douglas’s crab cakes, beer, and wine.

21. Veg Out
Presented by Whole Foods, Shindig Events, and No Bones Beach Club, this event markets itself as a "vegan food event for people who eat food," and aims to appeal to the general public. Expect music, chef demonstrations, food samples, cooking competitions, and a swag bag that includes coupons and treats. There's even a VIP lounge sponsored by Dockside Cannabis.

APRIL 14-15

22. Seattle Scotch & Beer Fest
Alternate between craft beers (more than 50 of them, with seven tastes included in the general admission ticket) and scotches or whiskeys (one flight, for five additional dollars). You can also sign up for separate scotch seminars so you'll know how to talk convincingly about what you're imbibing, if you're that kind of drinker.

APRIL 15

23. Pork Red Chile Tamales Making Classes
Learn to make traditional, authentic red chile pork tamales at this class that will benefit El Centro de la Raza's Senior Nutrition & Wellness Program.

24. Sumo + Sushi
Three pro sumo wrestlers—Byamba, Hiroki, and "heaviest Japanese human being EVER" Yama—will charge at each other in a demonstration of the ancient sport. Pair the experience with sushi by Seattle chef Hirohiko Kirita of the delicious and elegant Chiso.

APRIL 15 & 29

25. Pretty Fork Destination Dining
For these extravagant food tours, The Pretty Fork charters a private seaplane for eight to ten guests and flies to seaport restaurants across Elliott Bay, the San Juans, and Puget Sound. Once you arrive at the location (a secret until you get there), you get a champagne course and either a three-course lunch or six-course dinner, prepared by the chef of choice. They write, "The way we see it, people pay hundreds of dollars to fly and see sports games. We ask: Why not fly for a great meal." April 15 is a destination lunch ($169), and April 29 is a destination dinner ($349).

APRIL 16

26. Afternoon Delight—Easter
The Bookstore will serve a high-end tea service—sandwiches, amuse-bouches, and dessert—to enjoy in Easter peace in the Author's Corner section.

27. Filipino Easter Sunday Brunch Pop-Up
At the newest event from local pop-up purveyor Melissa Miranda, indulge in a spin on traditional Filipino breakfast foods, mimosas, and Bloody Marys.

APRIL 19

28. Brew Review 2017
Try seven tastes of Northwest beer from the likes of Counterbalance, Elysian, and Reuben's at this benefit for the Unemployment Law Project, which provides free legal counsel to help people get unemployment benefits while they search for new jobs. There will also be appetizers from Dante's Inferno Dogs, live music, and a silent auction.

APRIL 20

29. Classics & Mixology Basics Cocktail Class
After this beginner class, which will include cocktail tasting and snack pairing, you'll go home knowing the best mixing techniques, what tools to use, the history of spirits, and how to recreate recipes at home.

30. Family Dinner: A Japanese Feast
Gather around The Pantry's table for a family-style dinner made with fresh ingredients from the farmers market. This month's Japanese menu will include onigiri, pepper-fried chicken wings, seared wagyu beef, shaved black radish and crispy lotus root, and black sesame cheesecake.

APRIL 20-23

31. Global Specialty Coffee Expo
Everyone and their mother identifies as a coffee connoisseur, but this expo is for the true devotees: They'll have hundreds of exhibitors showing off their coffee and coffee-related goods, plus classes, social events, and even a special coffee championship. Coffee shop owners and espresso enthusiasts will be coming from all over the world to attend.

APRIL 21

32. Elevated Coffee Experience
In honor of the Global Specialty Coffee Expo, Trichome will host this celebration of the hippie speedball where participants can try delicious coffee from Elm Coffee Roasters that has been infused with cannabis oil. DJ Bgeezy will provide the tunes. This event is free, but they ask that you make at least a $5 donation at the door to the Puget Soundkeeper Alliance.

33. Lark Winemaker Dinner
Lisa Baer of Baer Winery, Chef John Sundstrom of Lark, and the Auction of Washington Wines bring you this intimate wine pairing dinner that will benefit the Seattle Children's Hospital and the WSU Viticulture and Enology Program.

APRIL 21-28

34. The Rice Stuff
Discover Chinatown-ID history and culture on a one-mile walking tour combined with a variety of tastes of savory, sweet, sticky, and crispy rice dishes.

APRIL 22

35. Sushi Making + Sake Tasting
Learn to roll five different types of sushi at this tasting event with Chiso Sushi owner Hirohiko Kirita. You'll also get three different sake tastes, a full pour of your favorite one, a prize if you're on the best sushi maker team, and a take-home sushi-making guide.

APRIL 25

36. Food & Identity: A Taste of Puerto Rico with Eric Rivera
Eric Rivera (the executive chef at The Bookstore Bar & Café) will create a traditional Puerto Rican meal—including bacalao, tostones, mofongo, and arroz con leche—and share it with guests while discussing "how we can learn about ourselves and one another through food."

37. Spring in the NW Cooking Class
Chef Megan Barone will share the secrets behind her five-course seasonal menu—which will feature charred leek and cauliflower soup, shaved asparagus salad, nettle strangolapreti, morel mushroom and pancetta tart, and roasted rhubarb and creme frâiche semifreddo, paired with an opening cocktail and three wines—and you'll go home stuffed and with a recipe booklet.

APRIL 27

38. Dining Out For Life
For the 24th year, restaurants in Seattle will donate between 30 and 50 percent of their proceeds to Lifelong's programs that support people facing serious illness and poverty. Eat at Le Pichet, Poppy, Machiavelli, Tilth, or any of the other participating restaurants today and help them feed even more than the 1,900 people they were able to provide groceries and meals to in 2016.

39. Sexy Syrah
According to "the unpretentious wine club" Seattle Uncorked, Syrah "is seducing wine enthusiasts who have an affection for red wines with bold spices, rich fruit and silky texture." If you're also lusting over the wine or are curious about it, head to this 16th annual event featuring more than 30 Washington wineries, including, for the first time, some offering blends and rosés. Salty's Executive Chef Jeremy McLachlan will also provide an appetizer menu "designed to showcase Syrah’s outstanding affinity for food."

APRIL 28

40. Cured, Pickled and Sauced
This edition of Delicatus' Friday Dinner Series will feature a menu inspired by Big Gin Spirits that will include a selection of cured and pickled items. Come for salty, alcohol-soaked food from a variety of culinary traditions.

41. STEM: Science Uncorked
Which goes together better: Cheese and wine, or science and wine? You'll have to attend this after-hours Pacific Science Center tasting to find out. Sip unlimited samples of Washington wines and explore the exhibits.

APRIL 28-29

42. Pike Place Date Nights with Rambunctious Food
Bring your significant other to this pop-up kitchen from Rambunctious Food and you'll each get a drink, AMC movie ticket, and four-course meal from Rambunctious Food, including options like calamari, pulled pork soup, brisket ravioli, and pancetta dolce. You can also purchase a single ticket for $60, which includes just one of everything.

APRIL 29

43. Bacon and Beer Classic
Pay a flat price for unlimited beer from Elysian, Fish Brewing, Fort George, Hop Valley, Ecliptic, and more, as well as bacony dishes (bring your own heartburn medicine). Participating restaurants include Ivar's Acres of Clams, Dumpling Tzar, Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya, and more.

44. Cheese and Meat Festival
Fifty-five bucks buys you all the cheese, charcuterie, wine, beer, and cider you can handle at this touring food fest. During your two-hour tasting session, you'll get a charcuterie board and a tasting glass to sample product from vendors including Salumi, Lost Peacock Creamery, Uli's Famous Sausage, Mollusk, Honest Biscuits, Finn River Cidery, and more.

45. Chicken Mole Cooking Class
El Centro de la Raza presents another offering in their selection of cooking classes. This one will focus on chicken mole, and will teach you how to make that slightly sweet, tangy sauce that manages to combine what seems like a thousand flavors into one perfect dish.

46. Fremont Troll Stroll
At this 16th anniversary event, 1200 people will gather to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and taste craft beer at up to a dozen Fremont locations, including the Red Door, Norm's Eatery & Ale House, and the George & Dragon Pub.

47. Green Lake Food Walk
It's like an art walk, but with food. A special wristband given to you at the registration point will allow you to sample specialties from area restaurants and cafes until you can't eat any more. Some of the businesses will include The Woodlands Pizza & Public House, Duke's Chowder House, and PCC.

48. How to Cook an Egg
There are more exciting things you can do with an egg than scramble it for breakfast. Learn how to make eggs Benedict (with hollandaise, asparagus, morels, and chive blossoms), spring vegetables with aioli (of the garlic, spicy, and tarragon varieties), and ile flottante (poached meringue with vanilla creme anglaise, rhubarb compote, and pistachio praline).

49. Kirkland Spring Beerfest and Superhero 0.5K Fun Run
Superhero that you are, you can handle a very, very short fun run (half a kilometer) along with your delicious local cider and beer. But it's optional; you can also just spend your time sipping. Your entry fee benefits the Kirkland Downtown Association.

50. Snohomish on the Rocks
Sample booze from Northwest distilleries like 3 Howls, Black Sam, Temple, Scratch, and others. The general admission ticket includes eight tastes and $5 for food, as well as a shot glass to keep.

51. Tequila: Not Just Salt and Lime
Explore the art of tequila—the agave varieties, aging methods, and Spanish distillation techniques—at this cocktail class that will encourage you to think about the spirit as more than a shot to quickly down. You'll learn how to make four different cocktails, and you'll get to sample each alongside dishes from Serafina's excellent kitchen.

APRIL 30

52. Cochon555
Rejoice, well-heeled enthusiasts of pig flesh! Five heritage-breed porkers supplied by family farmers will be transformed by five restaurateurs into ultra-fancy meals. There's also a ramen bar, cheese, fancy butter, ribeye, and many kinds of wine.

53. Top Pot Doughnut Dash
Support Childhaven, a children's welfare organization, with your legs and your belly. Adults will run a 5K and be rewarded with doughnuts and coffee; kids can take part in a quick half-mile run and enjoy doughnuts and a free Caspar Babypants show, but presumably no coffee.
