I have made it to the end of my free articles on NYT...where is this definition being made? I mean, obviously, Trump’s not re-editing the dictionary, but is it a memo being handed down in the justice department or what?

3

You know that after creating a rigid definition gender he's going to work on racial eugenics laws, right?

4

Its an Emergy! Scary brown pipo! Change the laws! Panic!

Which law, President Dipshit?

5

I can’t bring myself to read the article about narrowing the definition of gender. I just can’t start my week on such a low low note. More penguins pleaaaaase.

6

@2 no doubt the tech industry as a whole is responsible for a lot of h1-b visas, but amazon probably doesn’t account for more than a tiny sliver of the 2million immigrants with bachelors in that chart from 2010-15.

It definitely looks like we have a lot of room to take in a lot of new Americans who haven’t already had opportunities to access higher education though!

7

The whole point of trying to prove POTUS Moron wrong is to Prove Him Wrong. Examples: His inauguration crowd numbers. Obama's birth certificate, his intelligence...need we go on? Yes. It's fun and to see him squirm should be made a national pass time, like sports.

8

The timing of this mob coming for our southern border seems too perfect.

Right before elections, a big, hot, sweaty mob of brown-skinned, non-english speaking refugees heads for the southern US border. The Mexican military and police can't stop them. THEY ARE COMING!!!

Something's fishy, methinks.

9

It's interesting that the immigrant caravan and anti-Trans measures are happening as we approach an important Federal election. Trump stirring up hate and bigotry, along with massive voter purges are the only hope the Republicans have in keeping their stranglehold on the Federal government. (They obviously cannot run on their record or their ideas.)

10

Blazing sun AND rain soaked blankets? How dat be?

11

Robert "Beto" O'Rourke wants to trick you into thinking he is Hispanic instead of 100% Irish, while Rafael "Ted" Cruz wants you to forget he is actually Hispanic.

What a funny world.

13

@8 is just an absolute delight and perfectly illustrative of the delusional paranoia that leads to the election of a similarly delusional shit-brained idiot to the most powerful position on the planet. Curious as to who you think the mastermind behind this deviously ingenious plot is... Nancy Pelosi? Colin Kaepernick? Max Solomon? I'd have been willing to lend my considerable talent to the effort, but unfortunately nobody from the deep state bothered to get in touch.

14

11

Welcome to the zany world of identity politics

15

@13: Kind of seems like he is suggesting a vast right wing conspiracy to make Americans feel at siege from the barbarians at the gate.

For what it is worth.

16

13

I think 8’s point was that it could be a Republican plot, not one by the Democrats.

That said, the thought that it’s some plot by either party is laughable.

17

@1 --- an NYT digital subscription costs about 30 cents/day (unless you get a sympathetic NYT salesperson -- then it's closer to 20 cents.)

$5 - 9/month is not too bad -- the reader's Comments alone are typically worth it:

"This is only the latest example of President Trump's efforts to gain political advantage by dividing Americans and pitting us against one another. The Trump administration has issued this proposal a mere two weeks before the election in order to poke its finger of the eye of the LGBTQ community. President Trump doubtless hopes that LGBTQ citizens will protest, which the administration and Fox News will cite as more evidence of the existence of a 'mob.' Even more, Trump hopes that Democrats will push back against him prior to the election, so that he can exploit this issue in the same way the GOP pounced on the issue of public restrooms in North Carolina a couple years ago. Has President Trump ever--even once--reached out to those Americans who do not support him? I don't recall it." --Chris Rasmussen, Highland Park, NJ. Oct. 21

I wonder, how much does the Seattle Times' birdcage liner/fishwrap want it's perpetually-terrified readers to donate for access to their far far FAR "right'' wing voter-suppressing prevaricator-endorsing Agenda, these days?

18

@10:

Clearly you're not from around here - where during certain times of the year it's possible to go from clear-and-sunny to wet-and-drizzly in a matter of minutes, or even to have sun and rain at the same time. I presume this kind of weather is not unique to our little section of the planet.

19

Yes. I am implying that the Republicans have organized this, not the Democrats.

Or someone sympathetic to their cause.

22

@20 yeah, their point is once you get people scared of their own shadows, it runs itself from there.

23

18
Oh I’ve been around the block...including mexico. Blazing sun will dry out a wet blanket in minutes. Of course vice versa is a little tough. Just thought the whole “omg! It’s terrible!!!” Meme that was presented is a bit silly.

Been in this area for more than 40 years...thankfully now splitting time between here and more sunny environs...and dare I say, more saner ones as well.

24

19,

Look at the bright side, that tin foil hat you are wearing will fit right in during Halloween.

25

20

Ya, because the democrats don’t play the same game?

Of course they do. It’s all about fear and outrage from both sides.

26

"the thought that it’s some plot by either party is laughable."

You don't think that multi-billion dollar organizations will play every dirty trick in the book to hold onto their power? How do you think they got there in the first place?

I doubt they went so far as to plant a ton of people there, but they probably took a nothingburger story and then lied to make it look bigger.

The thought that anyone believes powerful, wealthy corporations play fair is laughable.

27

@19- I think it is much more simple. The world is a constantly busy place. Things that are potential motivators for political parties are happening at all times. It is more about choosing an item to focus on at a fortuitous time. Obviously trans rights are red meat for the hard core of Trump's supporters, so this is a great time to roll that out, but a focus on migration could happen whenever, and these 'caravans' have been taking place frequently.

28

@25:

Y'all keep saying that, but every time it happens it turns out to be just one side doing it, amiright?

29

26

Ya, some black ops guys went to South America and yelled “road trip!” to a bunch of poor Hondurans....just in time for the mid terms of course.

It’s all very planned...like 911......cough cough....

30

28
Your kidding right?

“They are gonna destroy mommy earth! Get out the vote!!l
“They are gonna make abortions illegal!! Get out the vote”

I could about 135 other examples.....but your right, only one side incites fear to get out the vote....lolz.

32

@28: You are completely wrong, you just excuse it or do not see it because "your" side can never do something bad.

First one that comes to mind is how the immigrant holding facilities under Obama instantly became literally Auschwitz the second Trump won.

That's sowing "fear and outrage" to get political ends. Politics 101. But you are a true believer, so it doesn't matter.

33

31

Lol ok

34

You guys have nothing better to do today than to feed the admitted troll? And the other, more subtle troll?

36

34

Trolling again?

37

A certain Slog commenter who goes by the screen name “Clifford Mass” also came out against 1631. Here’s a quick snippet:

“Guys, although global warming is totally real, please don’t call it a ‘catastrophe,’ as that word is overused and not up to my objective standard, and please don’t vote for 1631! Its organizers tweet stuff that doesn’t 100% agree with me and they think republicans are set on destrying the earth. But that’s ‘divisive,’ unlike rolling back the clean air act or demonizing immigrants - two things that a handful of republicans i met say they don’t support even if they belong to the party that elected a fraud precisely so he could do thise things. What I propose instead is that you vote for I-732, which, as it conveniently happens, was on a ballot in the past. #timetravel #itwasfoggytoday #firesof1865.”

39

@38 - Another full-throated plea on behalf of the less fortunate? Don’t you ever get tired of virtue-signaling? What is this - the zero-zeroth time you’ve leapt to their defense?

I don’t love 1631, but I’m coming around to the argument of “it’s better than nothing.” The world is changing faster than even we humams can adapt. The future ain’t going to be pretty.

Not that you care. It’s not like you live on this planet, right? You’re trolling from Alpha Centauri or Uranus?

40

Yessir! The state of Just Say Wa is gonna stop that darn global warming....oops, I mean climate change!

Ante up everyone, and bend the fuck over, ‘cause da govt gotsta get paid!

41

Yessir! Imma gonna criticize something important and I don’t have a better solution. Yeehaw! Imma get in my pickup truck and go muddin’!!!!! It still rains, right?

42

41

Important? Lmfao

43

BNtS, put some clothes on! That's a 13 hour streak!
