Our first Resist/Recharge event with SOMOS.

Free this evening? Swing by St. John's Bar and Eatery on Capitol Hill for Resist/Recharge, The Stranger's series of talks with community leaders and nonprofits opposed to President Trump's agenda. So far, we've held events with SOMOS, Northwest Harvest, Greenpeace, 21 Progress, Langston, Totem Star and Red Eagle Soaring.

This week, we're hosting Seattle Counseling Service for a talk on the impact of Trumpism on the mental health of LGBTQ+ people and other marginalized communities. Dr. Anthony Aguiluz, a mental health therapist, will lead us and take questions.

Here is a longer description:

Join us in an interactive dialogue regarding the effect that Trumpism has on the mental health and wellness of the LGBTQ+ and other marginalized communities and why therapy is more than just personal. Clinical staff from the Seattle Counseling Service will provide context for the emotional impact the policies and behavior of the current administration has had on our community, the reasons why it is necessary for therapists to challenge traditional notions of pathology and diagnosis and how we respond to these issues, as well as share ideas in which we can take care of ourselves and others in the current political and social climate.

Don't miss it.
