Carbon credits is an abstract scheme rather than simply implementing better technologies with the usual government incentives such as a tax deception or rebate. And its ultimate impact on climate change is theoretical which certainly doesn't justify higher prices passed along to the consumer. Vote YES I-2117.
Carbon credits provide flexibility for new methods of reducing carbon pollution. Innovation is what is desperately needed in this area. Vote No, No, HELL NO on I-2117!!!
A rare show of honesty: "...as with any good thing self-proclaimed Democrats have ever done, it's just not enough."
Nothing, no matter how good, will ever be enough for the Stranger -- if it comes from the Democrats. At least the Stranger here admits this, so we can all stop pretending the Stranger could ever fully approve of anything this City Council does. The Council should always keep this in mind when the Stranger criticizes it.
@3: Years ago, the Stranger internalized Sawant's pathological hatred of the Democrats. So long as her behavior hurts Democrats, the Stranger will (at very least) not criticize it. Hence the Stranger's refusal to admit Sawant now actively campaigns to elect Trump.
I-2117 will overturn one of the most regressive taxes in the nation.
The gas tax disproportionately burdens the working poor, struggling families, and lower income people.
The gas tax impact on the environment is not measured by government officials, so we have no idea if the billions of dollars in regressive taxation does anything to help the environment. If it was measured and showed impact--100% support the tax. It, unfortunately, does neither.
The Gas Tax is overwhelmingly supported by Washington State billionaires who are not affected by gas taxes, and they care little about crapping on poor people
Please, stand up for the poor people and vote Yes to repeal this tax.
"The City should get some flowers for their support of the CCA, but"... I'm going to whine and whine until you listen! Nothing is good enough for these people.
I thought that the approximately $0.50 per gallon CCA charge was the result of evil multi-millionaire oil company executives using that act as an excuse to soak all of their customers in this state. And that the actual CCA charges were expected to be around a nickel per gallon. But Bill Nye is on the air, lobbying to save the CCA and all those millions that multi-millionaires expect to rake in.
I just don't know who to believe any more. It would have been nice if the original legislation would have included a mandate to make CCA charges per gallon a line item on all those gas pump stickers. But that might confuse the poor voters. If we were confused then, how can you expect us to make an informed judgement now?

All of this will be moot if Hannah idol Sawant gets her desired outcome (not sure how progressives square this circle)
